Question:
I am having problems connecting my DVI monitor to my graphics card. It works if I connect it on the VGA port. Am I doing something wrong ? (06/12/2006)

Answer:

The most common cause of issue this is the DVI cable.

Unfortunately there are about 10 different DVI standards. You can find a list of the most common types in the link below.

For some reason not all cables are compatible with one another. In addition, we have had issues in the past that have been solved by simply swapping ends of the cable, plugging the end that was in the monitor into the system and vice versa.

If the above doesnt help, its time to start looking at your graphics card. Try to get access to another graphics card to put in your PC in to test with your DVI cable. If you manage this and get a picture then the likelihood is your graphics card is dead. If you have one of our PCs, please log into your account on our website and fill in an OFRITUS. Providing your PC is in warranty we will quickly organize you a replacement.
