Question:
I am considering buying a computer from you, but would like to know if your pcs come with any extras? (28/06/2006)

Answer:

When commissioning a custom machine from us you will not only get a computer, but you will get so much more than that. When we send a computer to any customer we always make sure that all the essentials are covered. When ordering a custom machine you get the following:

Build quality:
We take great pride in our build quality and have a reputation for attention to detail. There are a multitude of testing procedures and benchmarking that we run through when building each computer to ensure that the system works without any nasty surprises.

Accessories:
A lot of components we normally use for PC Builds are retail boxed, so it comes with a lot of accessories at our disposal. Any accessories that we don’t use we send separately in 2 boxes -
  1) Important accessories and manuals that will most likely be used.
  2) Less important accessories (probably will end up in the bin at some point - different unused internal cables etc...)

Such accessories include cables (from motherboard, from graphics cards, sound card, power supplies etc.), case drive bay covers, power lead converters etc. If we have replaced any standard coolers on your motherboard or graphics cards then we will send you the stock coolers also. The system accessories are sent in a separate box from the computer itself

Support CD:
If you have ordered your computer with a version of Windows then you get a support CD as well. The support CD is bootable and it contains a few OS independent utilities that will allow to diagnose a few of the problems that a PC may develop during its lifetime.

  • HD testing utilities for diagnosing if the problem is due to a faulty drive.
  • Memory testing tool that gives 99.9% accurate indication if there is anything wrong with the system's memory
  • CPU testing tool that displays general health of a CPU
  • Mainboard information - shows a wealth of useful information about the system's BIOS, motherboard's model number, PCI devices etc
  • Antivirus - DOS based antivirus (still to be confirmed in the next release)
  • File browser - recover your files even without windows booting up (still to be confirmed in the next release)

The list is being updated normally every quarter and the CD is available only to our customers free of charge.
The CD is also bootable from windows and has an easy to use graphical interface:

The support CD contains a variety of tools that will allow you to carry out basic maintenance and trouble shooting on your computer. The support CD has the following:

  • Windows based Applications: This section of the CD has a multitude of applications that will allow you diagnose problems on your computer as well as make adjustments to your system settings. The applications allow you to:
    • Testing/Benchmarking: In case of a problem you can use the testing applications to find out exactly what is causing the problem. The benchmarking programs can also be used as a great testing aid, however they are designed to test system settings and give it points based on its performance with those settings.
    • Graphics Modifiers: These applications are designed to allow you to modify your graphics cards BIOS to allow you to get the most out of them. Not recommended for non-experienced users.
    • Remote Connection: This application uses a protocol that allows you to connect to your computer from a geographically remote location.
  • Drivers: In this section of the CD we include up-to-date Drivers for all the hardware we use in our systems. This way if you upgrade your hardware or operating system you will still have whichever drivers you need direct from the manufacturer's website on a disc.
  • Links: The links section contains links to the web sites of component manufacturers as well as program creators. Through this section you can check to see if any new drivers have been released, allowing you to keep up to date.
  • Contact Us: As the name implies this section gives you information on how to contact us. In case of an incident you can contact us more speedily.

Manual:
The manual is designed and written with the computer in mind. The manual contains information and tips on taking care of your computer, basic recommendations, troubleshooting information, information on the various aspects of the support CD and a notes section that you can use to write any important information.

RAID drivers:
If you have ordered a RAID configuration on your system then we will also send you the drivers that are required. The RAID drivers will be on a floppy disk and will be sent to you in your accessories box. If you need to re-install Windows on your system then the RAID drivers will be required. If you are unsure of how to use them then we will always be here to help. (Please note that the Raid drivers will only be sent when the PC has been purchased with an OS)

Once a possible solution is found we will contact and inform you of fixes. This system allows for solutions to be found speedily and efficiently, thus limiting your downtime.

Pre-recorded settings
Once your computer is built we always record the BIOS settings onto our database. If you should ever encounter an instance where you lose your BIOS settings then we can help you to recover them with minimum hassle.

Pictures
Because each system we sell is so unique, we take internal and external pics before the PC is dispatched

  • Internal pictures: These are taken for our engineers incase of problems. If you begin to experience a problem that will require you to open your computer then we can instruct you on what needs to be done accuratly. E.g. What memory stick needs to be moved etc.
  • External pictures: These are taken at the same time as the internal pictures and uploaded to the web so if you decide to leave a testimonial you have the option to show everyone your system.
