Question:
When I switched on my Vadim today...during the POST screen it came up with CPU FAN ERROR! I then had to hit F1 to continue..and it loaded Windows as normal. When I checked my SPU..cpuid/core temp etc..it came up with the standard speed rather than overclocked speed. I restarted and again got the same error! (10/05/2008)

Answer:

Modern Asus motherboards have a built in protection feature that will load the default BIOS settings if some external factors will be different to what the BIOS would expect - power fluctuations, double press of the power button, etc. This will also happen if the 'Reset CMOS' button that is featured on some motherboards has been pressed by mistake.

In such an event, the initial post screen will present you with two options:
F1 - enter BIOS to change the settings
F2 - to load default values and continue (If you press F2 at this point, the BIOS will load the default values which may mean different Boot/Raid/Power/Overclocking setting to what the system was shipped originally.)

Additionally, as the majority of our systems are supplied with an additional fan controler (t-balancer), the motherboard will not have any fans connected directly to it and as such, you will also get a CPU Fan Error each time you start the system if the default values are loaded.

What to do now?

- If you have a Vadim machine, before shipping the system to you we save 2 profiles in your motherboard's BIOS profile manager. All systems shipped since November 2007 will have the profile 1 - overclocked settings and profile 2 - non overclocked settings.
- If you fall under this category, all you need to do now is go into the BIOS (press DEL key at PC startup or F1 if presented with the message noted above) and navigate to the 'Tools' menu, load profile number 1 and then press F10 to save & exit. Please refer to your motherboards manual for more step by step instructions on how to access the profiles as each motherboard has different Menu and navigation screens.

- If for any reason your profiles got wiped, or you have a Vadim Machine shipped before November 2007, then you will need to reconfigure your BIOS setting manually. They can be found in your order history screen. if not, please email us and we will supply you with them.
