For a long time now there has been a feud that stands out above all the others in such a cut throat industry. I am of course talking about the intense rivalry between Intel and AMD. Initially Intel had the market pretty much taken care of; that is until sometime in the mid 90s when AMD came with their K7s. AMD eventually had a major break through with the release of its Athlon series processors. It seems that in one fell swoop AMD took big chunk of Intel’s slice of the market. We have come a long way in recent years and with not much change in processor dominance. That is until now!
This week we shed light on the much anticipated Intel Conroe series of processors and try them out. Intel’s initial entry into dual core competition was with the introduction of their D range of processors, which seemed to just fade into the background. Would it be fair to say that the Conroe is doomed to face the same fate? That is what we intend to find out using Intel’s initial instalment of the Conroe into the market.
